Kwanza Jones is a remarkable figure whose multifaceted journey weaves together threads of entertainment, law, and philanthropy. Originally from Los Angeles and raised in Washington, D.C., her upbringing in a legal household instilled in her a commitment to excellence and service. As a high school student, she served on the D.C. State Board of Education, laying the groundwork for a life dedicated to impact.

Kwanzas academic journey took her to Princeton University, where she excelled both as a Division I track and field athlete and a student. Major in Public and International Affairs, she also pursued certificates in African-American Studies and Theater and Dance. Her musical talents blossomed as she participated in a cappella groups and the Princeton Gospel Choir. A significant milestone occurred when she won Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater, which inspired her to write and record her debut album, "Naked," in her college dorm.

After graduating from Princeton, Kwanza pursued legal studies while nurturing her music career. She was crowned Miss Baltimore and earned her Juris Doctor from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, followed by a Master of Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University.

In her personal life, Kwanza’s bond with billionaire investor José E. Feliciano began as a friendship at Princeton and blossomed into a deep partnership that led to their marriage in 2002. Together, they have made a lasting impact, with their recent contributions resulting in the dedication of Jones Hall and Feliciano Hall at Princeton, honoring their legacy as the first buildings named after Black or Latino alumni.

Her professional path is characterized by a refusal to be confined to a single role. As a corporate attorney and court mediator in New York City, she also taught cross-cultural negotiation at NYU. Simultaneously, she successfully funded her music career independently, achieving nine Top 10 hits on the Billboard Dance Club Songs charts, including "Think Again" and "SUPERCHARGED."

Kwanza then transitioned into private equity, founding SUPERCHARGED, a media and personal development brand, and establishing her family office. This venture allowed her to direct significant capital and make historic contributions to her alma maters, including a groundbreaking $20 million donation to Princeton and a $6 million legacy gift to Cardozo Law.

Recently, Kwanza has made national headlines by finalizing a historic $3.9 billion purchase of the San Diego Padres with her husband, billionaire investor José E. Feliciano. This monumental transaction, which received unanimous approval from MLB owners, makes her the first Black woman majority owner in MLB history.

During a press conference at Petco Park that quickly went viral, Kwanza captivated the audience with her vibrant energy, humorously declaring, "Yo soy la madre… de los Padres!" She revealed her jersey number "00," symbolizing "zero limits," and boldly guaranteed, "We gonna win! Win it all!" The couple’s infectious enthusiasm resonated with the team, with star third baseman Manny Machado lauding their passion.

In addition to her groundbreaking achievement in baseball, Kwanza continues to make a significant impact outside of sports. Her philanthropic efforts recently surpassed $3 million in commitments to Bennett College, an all-women’s HBCU, including a substantial $1.5 million gift for campus renovations and student scholarships.
